Ok guys, as you may have already read, Synthzone buddy Rico recently posted a very impressive instrumental version of the song "Lucky Day". I recently discovered this song (on YouTube) and pointed it out to him and was thinking of recording it too, but with vocals, and in auto accomp. arranger (vs utilizing a midi backing track as Rico impressively showcased).
Rico suggested that we give the membership a chance to hear 2 different approaches to the same song, and that we both record this song, so I sang & concurrently played it live in arranger (auto accomp) mode, and recorded it in one quick take (with plenty of flaws ) utilizing the T4 'jazz rotary organ' sound, going directly out of the T4 to my Tascam DR-07MKII digital recorder. I had hoped to find time to re-record it again, but haven't found the time yet (I'm having too much fun playing with my new iPad 3 , so have opted to simply post the one I recorded in one quick shot last week.

Scotty, good job. Where does this song come from? A musical?, An import? Thought I was pretty informed about all kinds of new material, but this one is unfamiliar.

Hi Scott,
You did a fantastic job!
You showcased what the Tyros4 can do when played Auto-Accompanyment style with an accomplished lead vocalist who can simultaneously play the chords and the riffs on the keyboard.
You will be the ideal professional demonstrator for Yamaha.
It is impressive to see what the Tyros 4 is capable of when a skilled keyboardist like Rico plays his chops over a backing MIDI track and then take it to the next level by adding live vocals.
Your Tascam DR07mkII digital pocket recorder is worth every penny. This along with your new iPad and the Yamaha Tyros4/Korg microARRANGER combo gives you the ideal portable setup for any live performance.
Great job Scott! I wish my rehearsals sounded that good This song is starting to grow on me. I can't believe I never heard it before. Thanks for sharing.

It not the keyboard, it's the keyboardist.
Scott, In your usual fine style, very nice! Wow, and you took time out of using your new iPad! Thanks for posting that, it's been a while since I've heard you!

Rico, Cap Russ, Tapas, Paul, Eddie, Gary, Steve, and Larry:
Hi Guys: Thanks for such generously kind words. Glad you enjoyed my rendition of "Lucky Day". I had honestly debated whether to post such a rough around the edges recording, especially realizing my vocals weren't always on pitch pristine. Then again I remember past member comments made suggesting that my vocal sound style was better suited for trad. pop & jazz standards and not for Pop Rock & Country. In an attempt to bring out an edgier raw quality to my voice, I intentionally set the song key a tad higher than usual to try to achieve that, but regrettably,in a few spots,it resulted in some pitch-vocal placement problems. I did have fun spontaneously recording it either way, so thanks to Rico for having suggested us both record the same song, as it's now inspired me to actually seriously 'work' on learning another new tune again.
Additional comments and thoughts from others are 'welcomed and encouraged'.

Hi Russ, "Lucky Day" was included on German singer Sasha Schmitz's 2007 Greatest Hits album and was the 66th best selling German single of 2007. Here he performs the song @ the 2007 Live Earth Concert in Hamburg:
Hi Scott you have a great voice, nice use of Tyros accompaniment, some tend to overuse the 'production' styles but this is a nice solid rhythm. Personally speaking, having worked for Hammond for years I always find it hard to listen to the organ sound on Yamaha gear but your vocals more than made up for it.

Sorry Mikey but you lost me on that one. What "song" is the 'Emeril & Wolfgang puck' song?
Scott is was the song on your Demo page, this could be the start of something big, I couldn't remember the name of it, as I recall, you changed the lyrics around a little. It was my favorite song that you did on your demo page, I was suggesting that you rerecord it on the Tyros 4. For anyone who doesn't know what I'm speaking about, here is a link to Scott's demos, it's called start of something big.... http://scottyee.tripod.com/songdemos.html
Scott give me a call sometime, my new iPad is arriving today, we have to talk Tech!
DUDE!!!!!! About time I hear some new shiznit from ya. Surely not disappointed, I missed hearing your singing. Completely new tune for me this, never heard before (haven't even listened to Rico's version) but I liked this immediately. Dunno what style you used but it works for this 100%. Nothing beats live stuff, screw the smf/midi backings.
Anyways good job, this just motivated me to do some real stuff myself (not just drunk karaoke :DDD)

Hi Heikki, thanks for the nice words of support. That meant a lot, especially coming from such a talented musician I respect as yourself. No matter how we choose to do it (a real backing band, auto accomp. arranger mode, utilizing backing tracks, or even karaoke), it's 'all good' imo, just as long as one doesn't fake their playing (keyboard mute) and/or lip sync their singing. JMO.

Hi Bob, I don't have a chart or dots, but here are the chords & lyrics I came up with and used:
Intro:
[Em][/][CMaj][/] [Em][/][CMaj][/]
Verse 1:
[Em] You're looking[/]lost [/] and I don't [/]know the reason [C] All that I [/]know [/] is that you [B]should not be [Em] Don't run a- [/]way [/] the time is [/]now the place is [B]Here [/] [/] [/]
Verse 2:
[Em] Don't hesi- [/]-tate[/] for this is[/]very urgent [C] I'm in a [/]state[/] in which I [B]should not be [Em] It's up to [/]you [/] to let a [/]minute save your [B]Day [/] [/] [B]
Chorus:
[G:]Show [:/]me [/:]what you [:/]got, I [B:]Know [:/]you've [/:]got a [:/]lot so [Em:]Don't [:/]you [/:]let it [:/]slip a- [C:]way [:/] [/:] [:/] just
[G:]Show [:/]me [/:]what it [:/]takes to [B:]Hold [:/]you [/:]maybe [:/]no one [Em:]Told [:/]you [/:]trust me [:/]when I [C:]Say [:/] to- [/:]days your[:/]lucky- [Em:]Day [:/] [/:] [:/] [C:] [:/] to- [B:]days your[:/]lucky- [Em:]Day [:/] [/:] [:/] [C:] [:/] [B:] [:/]

Hi Larry, I'm actually not experiencing any heat problem at all with my unit and I use it all day long. The only heat I notice is how quickly iPads are flying off Apple's shelves: 3 million sold in 3 days. I'm really enjoying the 4X improved HD screen resolution, new voice dictation feature, and much better than my home DSL, 4G lte mobille broadband speed. We've got terrific Verizon 4G lte coverage throughout the SF Bay Area (AT&T 4G lte coverage here on the other hand is still pretty spotty). On my Verizon 4G lte iPad I'm getting around 18 - 25 megabits per second download speeds, so I'm a happy synthzone hi speed internet connected camper everywhere I travel now.
